Directions

Sometimes our life goes in all directions. Sometimes it's difficult to know
the right direction. Some days our direction is right on course, but on
other days it seems life is a never ending circle. But there is one
direction that God gives us that is right on course, Jesus tells us to, "Go
into all the world and preach the Good News to everyone, everywhere".
Mark 16:15
The Apostle Paul tells us that, "All scripture is inspired by God and is
useful for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in
righteousness, so that everyone who belongs to God may be proficient,
equipped for every good work that God wants us to do". 2 Timothy 3:16
Therefore, in response to Jesus' commission and Paul's "directions"
Marvin Church has designed a ministry of Christian study called
Directions which will be open to both Marvin's congregation and the
surrounding community.
Directions is a thriving ministry that offers Bible studies and topical
studies two times a year; from January to May and from September to
November each year. Each study is a minimum of four weeks but no
more than fourteen weeks.
Purpose of Directions: To minister to God's people by offering
opportunities for Christian education and spiritual growth thereby making
and becoming disciples of Jesus Christ.

A STUDY OF THE BOOK OF ROMANS: (Facilitated by Rob Nelms)
Paul wrote this letter to introduce himself to the church at Rome. He intended to stop
there en route to Spain and he was eager to assure the Roman Christians that, in
spite of any rumors they might have heard, his message was indeed the gospel of the
grace of God in Christ Jesus.
The big issue in this letter is how anyone can be right with God on the final Day of
Judgment. In his most precise theological statement in the New Testament, Paul
asserts that right standing comes only through faith in Jesus Christ who died as a
sacrifice for sin. In light of the Jewish-Gentile tensions in the church, Paul makes it
clear that no one has an "edge" on God; rather, all stand condemned before Him
because no one has kept His Law. Having driven that truth home, Paul then declares
the good news that forgiveness, acceptance, and the new life of the Spirit are
available to everyone as God's gift to be received by faith.
